Great buy

Date:April 22, 2013
"I purchased this motor last week. The main reason I am writing this review is that the only real complaint in the past is that there is no handle to pull up the motor well now there is which is great I started it up and on the first pull it ran .With the new handle I will be able to carry it to a lake near my cottage. If you can get it on sale and in my case use canadian tire points it is a great deal..."

Very happy with my purchase

Date:July 23, 2012
"I purchased this outboard just under a month ago, in preparation to an upcoming canoe trip. For years I have had a reliable 2 stroke game fisher. But it was messy and loud! I had been looking for months at outboard motors. All of the major brands, Suzuki, Tohatsu ( + Nissan/Mercury) and Yamaha. I compared price, quality, technology, weight. It wasn't until Someone mentioned this motor being identical to a Yamaha that I began to give it serious consideration. After comparing manuals, product pictures. He is absolutely right!. It came down to this or a Suzuki DF 2.5. The Suzuki is about 7-8lbs lighter. I have read from owners of both the Yamaha and the Suzuki that, what you gain in weight loss you sacrifice in quality.
I have taken it out on local lakes several times now and it's solid as a rock. Starts first pull. Lots of torque and up to speed immediately. It has a 2012 EPA standard sticker on the side and I can attest to the fuel economy. It sips the gas. Mileage is easily double of my old 2 stroke
My Pros:
- Re-branded Yamaha so parts are available in the event Shakespeare gets out of the market.
- Reliability
- Gas mileage
- Mechanism to lock the motor in a vertical position.
- It's quiet
- Build Quality
- Neutral gear
my Cons:
- Weight (with gas, oil it all adds up when swinging it over your tailgate into your truck.
- Cheap repair tools that come with it. using the screw drivers to remove the spark plug with the supplied tool. The screw driver bend and broke before the splug would come loose. had to use my own tool to remove it.
- When lifting the engine in an emergency, it's difficult to reach for the handle on the rear ( I have resorted to using the gas cap, not good)
Looking forward to my trip. And will be confident if the motor is needed we won't be left stranded."

Love this little motor!!

Date:July 16, 2012
"This was the last motor available in my Canadian Tire and it was the floor model. The store manager allowed me to purchase it and I got it at half price! This motor starts everytime on one pull. It weighs about 35lbs. This motor pushed my 12 foot Porta-bote and 3 of us with all our gear with no issues. I use it in small rivers and small lakes. I love this motor!! Read the manual, follow the instructions and there shouldn't be a problem. Did I mention how much I love this motor?!!"

Pleasant surprise

Date:June 27, 2012
"I was wanting a little 4 stroke trolling motor for a while. checked the clasifieds you can't buy an old used brand name for the price of this one on sale. it starts great , runs great and only wieghs 35 lbs. Just take it out of the box put 350 ml of 10w40 oil check the leg oil and fill it with fuel. If you put a Yamaha decal on the side you would not tell them apart I'm sure it's the same motor for half the price. Very happy with how clean and quiet it runs."

Good Purchase

Date:May 27, 2012
"Have used this motor for a dozen fishing trips to date. Starts on first pull of cord everytime. I use this motor for trolling and it performs well at low speed for extended periods. It also runs well at top speed when the fishing is finished for the day. Runs for most of day on small amount of gas. It is lightweight and easy to carry. Would recommend this motor. Watch for SALE price"
