Most Amazing Knife ever

Date:May 15, 2013
"My husband and I have one each. The knife is top quality, sharp and can cut through ANYTHING!!.The slip cover keeps it safe and clean and the Flint attachment is great for starting fire. I can get I fire going in less than 30 seconds with this knife and a little tinder. Anyone should have this knife. For camping or survival. It a bug out bag must!"

Worthy knife, with some considerations...

Date:May 12, 2013
"To begin, I would like to state that this knife is both great in performance and in value, and will meet most needs for a knife of its category; however, depending on its intent of use, this might not be the best choice for a knife. First of all, I will to elaborate on the features listed in the details. The fire steel is of god quality and there is not much to say apart from the fact that it has good retention to the sheath and unlikely to fall. The sharpening stone, although not of the best quality, is adequate to reestablish a rough edge on the blade (note that it can only sharpen the non-serrated portion of the blade). The whistle is not the loudest i have heard but it beats most other whistles under 10$. The lanyard attached to the whistle, is not big enough to wrap around my wrist (and I am thinly built). The sheath itself is ambidextrous and the plastic lip (featuring the Gerber logo) holds the knife very well. It will only free itself if I hold it upside down and give it a good shake (not that I have had the knife for over a year); however the velcro strap takes care of any potential risk. Now for the knife, the rubbery grip and ergonomic shape, make this handle VERY comfortable to hold and fits many hand sizes. the pommel is strong and serves its purpose. The most important feature of course, is the blade. The 4.8" blade, of drop point design, is half serrated. Now although this saw-like portion of the blade has many obvious advantages, it has many drawbacks. The first, is that the portion of the blade normally used to carve, is not suited for such tasks. It can remove bark and chunks of wood, but do not expect any fine carved masterpieces. Finally, the uses of this blade. As a veteran outdoor adventurer, I would be comfortable bringing this knife on week long trips in the backcountry; however, here are the main things to note: the blade will dull and needs frequent maintenance (the included sharpener can be adequate). The steel quality might lead to the tip breaking if not used properly. The knife is very good at wood processing, but I STRONGLY recommend bringing an axe on saw if no prepared firewood is available. All in all, it serves its purpose , for its value and although I do have a better quality knife that I would rather carry, I would feel confident carrying this knife on my next adventure."

Great knife

Date:November 18, 2012
"Got this knife about a month ago and have tested it out camping and hiking. Blade is strong, sharp and works quite well for chopping small branches. Did not try it on anything much larger then my forearm. Works as a saw in a pinch too though again probably not good for anything too large. Flint works well and seems pretty strong to me. Not sure how it could be broken easily and throws more sparks then my flint and steel set and easier to use. Good trade off as far as functionality and size in the sheath. Would not want it much larger then it is. I considered the Les Stroud ultimate knife but that is harder to find right now and appeared larger then I would want to carry on my belt. Will be taking this on my next canoe trip."

WORTH EVERY PENNY

Date:September 25, 2012
"I bought this knife just because I wanted a good multi use fixed blade knife, what a great purchase. This knife is the toughest, and it is very simple and to the point, I didn't choose the Les Stroud version of the knife as it comes with way too much other stuff (mirror, para cord, flint, light etc) this knife just has a nice flint in the sheath and a compact sharpening rock on the back. It was very well designed and is made of the best materials available, you can split wood with it.
59.99 is about what its worth, if it goes on sale then you would be wasting your money to buy something else."

Excellent Camp / Survival Knife

Date:October 4, 2011
"This knife does everything it promises. It is comfortable, strong and versatile. The sheath and sharpener are also excellent. Also, the orange on the blade and striker make it easy to spot if you do a no, no and put them down somewhere."
