Optimus

Date:January 2, 2013
"This rifle was a Christmas gift, and i was very pleased with it. Firt off, the scope was very good, and extremely accurate after it had been zeroed in. my only complaint about the scope is that it is hard to zero. The rifle shoots very accuratley with all pellets, however i found pointed the best. The barrel is pretty easy to cock, and delivers a nice amount of power when firing. I recently picked up a case for it, and it fit perfectly. I think it could take out squirrels and small birds quite easily. An excellent air rifle."

"Very accurate at any reasonable distance.Best shot is about 30/35 mtres. Most varmints are got on one shot and that is what counts.Nice weight and feel makes it very nice to handle and it is not overly heavy.Definetly recommend to everyone."

Epic buy

Date:September 17, 2012
"Got this gun yestreday, for the price,, its amazing. This is my favourite gun now, and when the scope is zeroed in its amazing, but its heavy. Plain heavy. I shot a big potatoe and the pellet went straight through. The gun can take out small game, and large/pest control, lol of course you can use it for target practice.
Pros.
Comfterble recoil pad, extreme acurracy (best ive had), velocity 495, fibre optic sights, raised cheek peice on stock, trigger block
Cons.
Heavy (6 lbs), stiff break barrel, big( in general, wide)

Crosman Quest Air Rifle...Awesome!

Date:August 6, 2012
"Just picked one up today, checked online for the nearest location that had it in stock but when i got there it was a display model and the scope was missing, so i almost bought the Beeman because the manager said he would discount it from 219.99 to 169.99 so i asked what deal he would give on the Quest with no scope because it has rifling in the barrel and the beeman does not, also the Beeman's nickle plating was nice but the finnish was poor, He said 119.99 instead of 159.99 the Quest looks to be much better quality. I asked the manager to check the nearest location that has the Quest in stock with a scope and i proceeded to that location i then told that manager about the situation at the last store and he gave me the same discount (119.99) and this one was still sealed in the box with the scope and all the paperwork.
I got it home and spent 10 minutes installing the scope and 8 rounds to zero it, i don't know if that is great but i have never owned a firearm much less an air rifle but i do however own several long bows, a cross bow and an old compound bow, which do not have scopes LOL anyway i think the quality of this rifle is superb and after an additional 50+ rounds the scope is still dead on. It is well worth the asking price and even better for what i paid, thanks Canadian Tire.
Considering the power and accuracy of this rifle and the use of pointed tip pellets it will easily work for small game hunting and large pest controll, the box also advertises this and F.Y.I it is rated as high as rifles twice the price and from all the research i did it is better than most of the 200-300+ dollar .177 air rifles."

Overall Great Air Rifle.

Date:July 21, 2012
"This rifle is very close to the Winchester 300 air rifle, both i would stand behind all the way. I bought this rifle about 2 months ago to get rid of squirrels that ruined the garden, as well as fully grown crows that woke the whole neighbourhood up early in the morning. Although not being able to kill a full size crow in one shot, it scared the bird off and it never came back. Also a well placed shot on a squirrel does the trick in one shot.
The gun itself is made of a very durable wood. Although complaints have been made about how heavy it is, and how a heavy trigger pull is needed, but this all results in a durable and long lasting rifle.
If your looking for a cheap air rifle that will get rid of those pests, last a long time, and not break the bank... This is the one. Cheers!"

Great Gun

Date:July 2, 2012
"I just bought the gun 3 days ago and have already killed a bunch of pests. The largest thing i have killed is a good sized black bird all in one shot. The gun is a little heavy but it is built well so it is not a problem. great gun for people with some pellet gun experience."

Good gun

Date:May 24, 2012
"I bought this gun 2 weeks ago and wasted no time killing off the black birds around my house. The gun is a little heavy but anyone who is old enough to shoot one can handle it, besides it is made of all wood and metal so what do you expect. Over all great gun. The only thing holding it down is the scope that's included."

Excellent Buy

Date:April 11, 2012
"Bought the new Crossman Optimus which is the replacement for the Quest.Found it to be accurate right out of the box and seems to be very well made. The Centre Point scope is very well suited for this rifle and zeroed in under 20 shots. The gun is a little heavy, but then again it is for an adult and not a child. Fit and finish is extremely good and I do not think you will find anything better for under $200. I have been a hunter for over 50 years and bought this for plinking and would recommend to anyone."

The best for me.

Date:March 23, 2012
"I bought this gun a few months ago, bought it to replace my Winchester 500X. I found that it is on par with the Winchester. While using the Winchester after about two weeks of shooting regularly I noticed a drop in muzzle velocity that was far more than expected. After doing regular oiling on it I found that it improved but not very much. Using the Quest I have yet to notice a drop in muzzle velocity. It shoots just as straight now as it did when I took it out of the box."

Good gun, scope is fine, accurate and lethal

Date:August 18, 2011
"I bought this gun about a month back and have dropped lots of mean black squirrels, crows and magpies with it already. It has a good weight to it, it does not feel cheap, however, it is heavier then most of my .22's. This makes it a little bit harder to steady for a younger shooter, but for your average adult, it is fine.
As stated in another comment, the iron sights, once dialed in are very accurate. The fibre optic system on the iron sights is also beneficial. The scope has no problems either, it took me about 45 pellets and an hour to hone this sight in to where I wanted it at 30 yards. That has been about the same amount of time it took me to dial in my .22 scope and the scope on my Browning .308. I have used both the iron sights and both are accurate to about 40 yards, after that the pellet starts to drop enough you have to account for it, but I was able to pick 9/10 cans off at 50 yards steady. The scope is very clear and good level of zoom. The caps for the scope are good because they are made to reduce glare. The yellow tinted side is good, the clear side however seemed slightly warped, but even though it's like looking through a slightly warped pane of glass, I still find it useful on sunny days.
Addressing any comments that said this won't drop small animals/pests are way off. Another product, the Crosman package of 1250 point pellets are another good buy to go with this gun. Hollow tipped pellets have poor penetration I have found and are good for target practice or shoeing animals out of the yard. For lethality I would go with domed or pointed. I prefer pointed, I believe it has a slightly better penetration and have found that 99% of anything shot with the pointed is an immediate kill. Domed I have found is slightly lower. If you are going for a kill shot, I would suggest the pointed pellets, if you can kill something a bit easier and more humanely with the pointed, it's better in my books.
This gun will drop squirrels, crows and magpies in one hit. Those are the only types of animals I have dropped thus far so I can't suggest it for larger prey. If you needed this for gophers it would be good. Rabbits you would have to have very good aim, and I wouldn't go anything larger then that.
So overall, this gun will drop back-yard pests, it's accurate and well built. Well worth the money it costs and recommend it to anyone looking for a 495fps gun."

QUEST'S REPLACEMENT IS AWESOME

Date:August 7, 2011
"The quest was discontinued and replaced by the Crosman Optimus, the scope is better, everything just seems better then the quest. Has a nice kick back to it. At 30 feet I was hitting bulls eye almost every shot out of almost 100 shots. For the money this gun is great!!! I have recommended this gun to a friend and he also bought one."

Amazing Gun

Date:July 28, 2011
"Amazing gun. I bought this gun a couple of days ago and was amazed at how well this gun shot for the price. The only cons about this gun is it's a little on the heavy side and the scope that comes with it is garbage. I would recommend buying a better scope or if not, the iron sights on the gun work great. I myself also take part in the air cadet marsmanship program and find that this gun is great for target practice but also can take down small game. Overall a great buy!"

Great Rifle

Date:April 24, 2011
"This is a great rifle but I would recommend not using the scope or buying a better quality center point scope. This is the Crosman Quest 500x, NOT the 1000x. I myself am I air cadets and partake in the marksmanship program. If you buy this gun to train for competion I HIGHLY recommend not using the scope and just the fiber-optic sights. Overall, this gun is great, but just not the best scope. I am very impressed with Crosman with this gun."

Great Rifle, Poor Scope

Date:April 10, 2011
"I bought this rifle at my local Canadian Tire store in mid April, and upon getting it home and shooting at some paper targets and pop cans, I was most impressed. With 495 fps muzzle velocity, this rifle can put a pellet through both sides of a pop can at 10 plus yards without moving the can. The gun is a little on the heavy side but that can be expected as this is a good quality air rifle. The only downside to the Quest 500X is the Centre Point scope that comes with it. My father and I spent the better part of two afternoons attempting to zero in this scope without success.
It should not take several hours and dozens of pellets to zero in the scope on an air rifle. I would suggest, to save yourselves a lot of time and aggravation, that you not bother with the scope and stick with the iron sights as they are dead on. However if you are a backyard varmint hunter and need the longer range accuracy, I would suggest replacing the scope.

Great Gun

Date:January 12, 2011
"I've had this gun for a few years now, and it is still in great condition. This gun has excellent accuracy when sighted in, and is far more powerful than any of the other .177 pellet guns that I have ever used. This gun can be hard for some to cock back at first because it has a crack barrel, but it gets easier over time. This gun is capable of shooting straight through cans, and I've used this for shooting gophers and it works perfectly. You can kill a gopher with one shot to the head, but elsewhere, and the bullets will wound it and the gopher will take another shot to kill. This is a great all round gun, and is incredibly light, accurate, reliable and powerful, and is excellent for getting rid of mid-sized pests, and shooting cans. f you are looking for shooting some pests larger than a gopher, or shooting long distances then I would recommend a .22 for larger bullet wounds and slightly better long distance accuracy, but for close range pest control (within 15 meters) I would highly recommend this gun."

Great gun

Date:November 10, 2010
"it's a great gun, i bought it at the end of the summer, and i was really pleased with the quility. i have dropped it a few times, but it still fires strait, but the scope is not the best, there are times that i fire 3 shots, it hits my target, but then i load in an other pellet, and it hits a few cm to the side, but the iron sights are great. over all its a great gun, but i would reccomend replacing the scope."
