This trap works! and So easy to set

Date:May 9, 2013
"I have had this trap for 3 years now and have caught a lot of coons! Peanut butter with or without cat food (dry) is most effective.
It has a hair trigger which is simple to set. But those sneaky coons can work around the trigger plate ..so paste that peanut butter to the plate AND in a small can tied to the back of it too. This gets a big coon fully inside so it can't hold the door up with its bum while reaching in for the food!
It is good for skunks too ...same bait or fish is good. Coons and esp. skunks can dig holes around the perimeter of the cage even through those small openings. I tied wire across them to reduce this but the most effective way is to simply drill a few holes in a cheap piece of 1/4 or 3/8 plywood 18" wide by 35" long so it extends 3" beyond three sides and wire it to the floor of the cage. This keeps your lawn undamaged and prevents the flip-over escape method those smart coons seem to manage sometimes. NOT ANY MORE!!
This is the best coon trap I have ever seen next to a gun. Its in the May 10th 2013 flyer but NOT on SALE! Has anyone seen this on sale. It's just not like C.T. to have non-"sale" items in their flyer!?

Works great on racoons

Date:September 8, 2010
"We have some pretty large racoons, and wasn't sure this would work. We bought the largest trap ($79.99) and within 2 days caught our first one.
We did have to tie the trap down (tent pegs and bungee cords) as the first night, they rolled the trap around, and trip mechanism was on the side.
We are very pleased with this trap."

The Squirrels are taunting me

Date:November 7, 2009
"Seems well made except for the trigger mechanism. It seems to have two settings: too heavy and too light. Fully engaged, the squirrels can do a little tap dance on the plate without it going off. Set "on the point", the trap triggers if they nudge the trap before going in. Watching through the window I've seen both happen. Sun room now has even more holes chewed through the screens as they keep coming inside for the 'free food'."

Great for possums and rabbits

Date:January 3, 2009
"This trap is good for catching small animals. It easily trapped many possums and rabbits. However, it is not strong enough to hold raccoons. They will damage the trigger mechanism and repeated raccoon trappings will weaken the spring until the trap doesn't work at all.
Overall excellent product for the yard, but needs some reinforcing to hold onto raccoons."

Good but not perfect

Date:October 7, 2008
"The $35.99 model is suitable only for squirrels and similar small animals. For raccoons you need the larger model at more than double the price. It safely and successfully caught one raccoon for me but twice now something has sprung it, eaten the bait and managed to escape. At least if they're filling up on bait they're not digging up my lawn."

Great Critter Catcher

Date:April 14, 2008
"Very easy to use with good results.
Last summer, this trap helped tremendously to rid our soffits of a group of squirls without harming them. We caught them one at a time, so it took a couple of weeks, but baiting and setting the trap was easy, and once it was set just had to wait for the little critters to go for the bait.
