Good little safe

Date:January 29, 2013
"Waited until it went on sale and bought it at $200 off.
Set up was easy. Nothing to assemble. Just bolt it down with the equipment provided (will need a drill/wrench).
I store 4 rifles with scopes. A 10/22 ruger takedown in it's backpack and 2 handguns in cases. It's a tight fit.
On the top shelf there's enough room for a combo of approx 10 boxes of ammo (rifle/shotgun/handgun).
It keeps the kids out and would take a fair bit of work for someone to break into.
If you have the extra money and there's a bigger safe on sale, go for that. I fast ran out of room."

Excellent Value

Date:December 11, 2012
"I found the review thread on this item to be confusing and agree with the others that note that some reviewers have confused this heavier duty safe with the lighter, cheaper model.
I bought the safe during the 50% discount sale which really helps with promoting value and I have noticed that this safe features regularly in the "sale flyer" so recommend waiting to buy until the sale event.
The quality of the safe and locking mechanism is as good as my other safes. The carpeted interior helps with careful storage.
I like the weight being only 120lbs - makes for easier install and the safe can be bolted as required.
Storage space is more reasonably 6 rifles not 8 but any exageration in this point is no more than other companies so I would not get too hung up on the issue.
Overall an awesome budget purchase if you get it in the sale and you will save enough cash to feel good about buying that other hunting item.

Cheaply Built and Damaged

Date:October 28, 2012
"We just bought this product today, drove 3 hour round trip to buy it from our closest Can Tire store. We got it home and unpacked it only to find that it was hard to get the door to open (tried the combination 5 times). It was hard to open because the door and cabinet were bent. Now I will have to take half a day off work to return it, if they do not cover the shipping on this damaged product. It really should not be called a ``safe`` as it really is just a steel cabinet. This would be very over priced if you were buying it at full retail, at 50% off, it OK value wise. Also there is no way you could ever get 8 long guns in this cabinet, maybe 6 if they did not have scopes and 4 if they were scoped. Also the three locking pins did not extend out the same distance, the bottom pin barely extended a 1/4`` out from the door when latched, however the top pin extended almost 1.5`` out."

Great Safe

Date:November 7, 2011
"Some of the other reviews are for the wrong safe. This safe is much higher quality than the cheap $150 one. This is solid steel welded together, as another reviewer noted. The combination lock is tied to 3 pins on the door frame. No one is getting into this without some heavy equipment.
The only negative things I would note are 1) it's not fire-proof and 2) you'd find it very challenging to actually fit 8 rifle-sized guns in there, especially if they have scopes. About 4 or 5 will fit, but just. And the door is very thick and requires extra clearance inside when closed.
It's a good safe for the $399, but even better if you can catch it on sale."

Very Happy with it for $89

Date:September 3, 2011
"This week CTire advertised a 10 gun safe for half price $199 to $99. I went and took a look and what I saw as the demo was this one. I thought about it over night and went back to buy it. Upon close inspection, I noticed that the ones (in the box) for $99 were keyed not combination but similar in size to this unit. Yet the floor model was the combo one as viewed here. The demo had a sale tag on it, which now I think was a mistake. I asked the manager and he said it was an old model. However, I said that I wanted one just like the one they had on display for $99 so he sold me the display model for $89. I am very happy with this purchase. A $399 safe for $89!"

Good Product, Excellent Value

Date:July 2, 2011
"This is a fairly heavy duty cabinet, welded seams, heavy door. Considering that it has what appears to be a fairly heavy duty combination lock, hidden hinges and heavy door bolts, it's an exellent buy. It's made in China (of course). A similar cabinet made in Canada or US would be over $1000. I think raters who state that this cabinet is too lightweight have it mixed up with other similar sized Stack-On Cabinets."

Not even worth $150.

Excellent product , Priced resonable

Date:November 26, 2010
"Well worth the price! Thicker steel than many other brands. Triple-large-diameter door locking pins. Nicely carpeted inside. Comes with lag bolts to secure it to the floor/wall if you wish. Just like most safes that one would purchase for normal items. All-around fantastic item!"

Its OK for what I paid.

Date:September 7, 2010
"Got it for $199.00. That is all I would pay. It has a nice feel not really heavy I moved it around only mysel fweighs 112 lbs. I would suggest when you get it home bolt it down. I added another 100lbs of wieght inside it. metal is thin a grinder would have no problem cutting through the sides. It will do its job and keep honest people and kids out thats about it.
A low end safe of what you would expect for under A $1000"
