Better off with tin snips and pocket knife

Date:January 23, 2011
"We also bought the electrician's version of this multitool and didn't think to much of it. This multitool shares many of the same characteristics and problems.
All of the blades in the handle open easily enough, but they are awkward to use because of how they are positioned in the handle. The screwdriver is a good example: when the blade is open, it's not centered in the handle like a regular screwdriver. You can't just smoothly turn the handles to turn the screw, you have to keep repositioning the handle in your hands every half turn. (It's very obvious when you handle the tool, but I can only hope I've explained this clearly.)
The quality of the metal in the knife, saw and file are okay, but only okay. The screwdrivers are also okay. We haven't rounded them off.
The highlight of the tool is the shears. They do work as advertised and will cut half mm sheet metal easily and without quickly dulling. The handles tend to be too short to give a lot of leverage though, so cutting through that half mil of metal will take a lot of work.
Overall, I think you would better off buying a pocket knife and dedicated metal snips from Wiss or MasterCraft. When the snips are on sale, they represent better value than this tool."
