Twenty years and still looks great

Date:September 2, 2012
"I checked these out recently and was pleasantly surprised that the quality was very similar to my twenty year old model. The unit is painted sheet metal with metal hinges and clasps. My twenty year old unit has a little rust on the bottom because i left it to get wet on the garage floor one winter but otherwise looks and performs well.
You cant go wrong with this old style tool box.

Super sturdy red metal toolbox

Date:May 14, 2011
"We've gone through many a plastic tool box over the years and find they are fine for light duty use such as keeping power tools and attachments together. The plastic ones don't hold up well to even casual use: the hinges or closing clasps break down if the box is overloaded and sometimes just from being opened and closed once too often.
The hinges and clasps on this basic metal tool aren't strained if you load up the box with tools.
The tool tray is a good size and isn't divided up into lots of compartments, so you can throw tools in the tray and still get the lid shut.
There is no sorter tray or organizer. This doesn't bother us because we use separate organizers to keep fasteners sorted.
We've used this as a sawhorse and a step stool and, aside from a few scratches, it's holding up well."
