Good Consumer Vise

Date:August 12, 2012
"This is an excellent vise for consumer, or hobbyist use. However, the material is a bit too soft for anyone who is really going to put it through its paces, especially as an anvil.
You are not going to do better for the price though."

Rugged Vise

Date:August 3, 2012
"This is a great value on sale and a solid vise. 5 years ago I bolted mine to my workbench and use it on a regular basis. I've put through the ringer and it's still going strong. This is a well built tool and should last me for many more years to come."

"This is a tough unit. Awesome value when bought on sale.
Ive beat on it pretty well and its still good to go.
Keep the worm gear greased up ever so often and it will be smooth as butter as well as last a long time."

Works great

Date:March 2, 2011
"I bought this vice with the intention of using it as a vice. Claming, squeezing, beating and whatever else. I don't baby it by any means and it's holding up like a champ. It came with a generous coating of grease and a very thick coating of durable paint. Sure, it is a little looser than you might hope but I don't think it will become so loose that it will be a problem. If you want a cheap, reliable vice, pick it up on sale."

Good economy-price anvil

Date:February 26, 2011
"I bought the 4" version of this vise and found it to be satisfactory, but I wish I had bought the 5" vise simply because it can hold a wider variety objects. Otherwise, they share the same traits:
- jaws have a pattern that helps grip metal
- sturdy anvil surface if you need to whack and bend small pieces of metal
- a handle long enough that you can get a decent sized grip
- the swivel base lets you turn through 120 degrees so you can move a project around
It has only a few problems:
- anvil area could be a couple of inches bigger
- The jaws loosen up if you are really pounding hard on metal.
- The jaws can't reach their maximum width (3") without a struggle
Overall, a quite good economy-model anvil. If comes on sale several times a year for 50% off. Get it then, and you will get a great deal."

Threads on main closing action a bit shaky

Date:February 25, 2009
"I purchased this vice on sale, it's not bad. I find there is a lot of freeplay around the threads on the main closing action. May become a problem over time, however, I haven't had it long enough to tell. If you have the cash, spring for a better brand name vise (sorry ctc) and you'll probably be happier."
