Great For Small Jobs

Date:September 11, 2010
"I bought this hatchet earlier this summer for the primary purpose of making kindling for the campfires and it worked wonderfully! It goes without saying that if you're going to be splitting wood you'll need to purchase a full size axe as this little guy is for, well, little jobs.Great hatchet!"

Good hatchet.

Date:July 19, 2010
"Good for stripping small branches off larger pieces of wood, for making kindling, but not for larger pieces of wood or splitting wood. Tried using this on 8"-10" diameter maple and pine, on a camping trip, and quickly gave-up and switched over to the bow saw. With a good bow saw, you almost don't need an axe or hatchet, for camping.
I say 'almost', because the hatchet does offer peace-of-mind that a bow saw doesn't. For example, hatchet vs. bear, the bear would probably still win, but you might have a fighting chance. Bow saw vs. bear is almost as bad as hand-to-hand vs. bear. Also not bad to have a back-up, just in case your bow saw breaks.
Much better than those "camp axes" sold in the camping section of CT. Be sure to check that the axe you choose is sharp, because I noticed that some were sharp and some weren't. Might as well get a sharp one. Also came with a miniscule rubber blade sheath, which is better than nothing.
If you're like me and were thinking of axe vs. bow saw for camping, definitely get the bow saw. If you don't mind carrying some extra weight, this is probably the best hatchet you'll find for the money, and will make you feel like chopping something."

yardworks hatchet

Date:June 17, 2010
"This is a great hatchet. I bought it for camping and tried it out in the forest and it works great. It is easy to chop wood and break thick branches. The hammer part on the other side works great too. I would recommend this hatchet to anyone."

Last hatchet you'll ever need

Date:January 2, 2010
"I've had this hatchet for over 3 years now and it's still working great. It fits in the hands very well for long use. However, it's slightly on the heavy side so it can feel heavy after using it for an extended period of time. It's very durable and solid. It will never break because it's fiberglass. I have even left it outside for 2 winters buried in the snow and it barely rusted. I've had to sharpen the blade twice in 3 years. Definitely recommended to anyone wanting to replace their old wooden-handled hatchet."

"This is a fantastic hatchet... it has a good weight and handle. It is also decently visually appealing and looks nice in the garage. I recommend this hatchet to all."

Great feel and weight

Date:September 12, 2008
"I love the light yet strong fiberglass handle of this axe... plus, you'll never lose it in the leaves with it's bright colour. ;)
I'd spend a few bucks more to get this one instead of the thin-walled metal handle model."

"used this camping or just hanging around the cottage it's great for kindling, the edge lasts for a long time, it is durable and can double as a splitting wedge with either a larger axe or mallet."

Nice hatchet

Date:July 26, 2008
"I use this for camping applications and my home fireplace. It's great for smaller pieces of wood and kindling. You can even get into full out swinging on big pieces of wood. The fireglass handle means no more handle replacing. Often aluminum handled hatches bend, not the case with this hatchet."

not bad

Date:April 8, 2008
"The weight isn't distributed as well as I'd like, and the blade seems to rust very easily. I'd prefer a one steel forged hatchet, like the estwings."
