I love it !

Date:April 21, 2013
"I am definitely not a pro carpenter, but just a handyman husband.
I bought this saw on special for $300 plus the stand for about $80.
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. It does what I purchased it to do. And the suction dirt bag works well. I love the cutting wheel brake that slows the wheel and stops it after cutting.
Thankyou to CT for a good saw for a good price!

Best choice for the price

Date:April 13, 2013
"Dual bevel sliders have lots of moving parts and lots of adjusters. Mine was not true out of the box; the fence was slightly off - really easy to set. The worst part of the saw is the crummy little bevel set bolts used for setting the fixed 45 and 30 degree stops. The manual say they are 3/8" but mine were slightly larger and you need a really skinny wrench to tighten the lock-nuts. All my presets were out so I set all 4 #2 left, 2 right# but found that despite the angles were set true, the red marker showing the bevel setpoint did not make sense; it would be slightly out on the right side if the left side looked OK; it's a crummy red bent piece of metal held on by a screw #the manual shows a hex head bolt#. I can only surmise that the protractor scale on the machine is wrong as the saw cuts are fine. The 48 degree stops don't work properly as the heads of the lock nuts on each side interfere with the casting of the bevelling frame."

OK on special

Date:March 1, 2013
"Decent saw, If you get it on special. At full price I would go for the Makita or Bosch, they are a bit more expensive, but if you want to dish out 500$ might as well go with a brand like makita that you know will last a lifetime."

"This is a decent saw for most DIYers but likely not a good choice for the pro. The sliders are my main concern as they tend to stick. I've tried cleaning them but no changes."

as good as anything else

Date:August 30, 2012
"the only thing negative to say is that i have not had it long enough to say it'll out last your grand children. lol . but in all seriousness, you can't buy a better saw. it cuts so smooth. its motor makes a decent but powerful hum and the hardware is durable and sound. really really i've used others. and with your eyes closed (hopefully not) you'd never know it is not a much more expensive competitor"

Purchased as a gift for my husband

Date:August 29, 2012
"I purchased this as a gift for my husband when it was on sale this summer (as an incentive to get our deck built) It worked wonderfully! (Both the saw and my plan)
He had no complaints about it at all and it did a wonderful job building our whole deck! Would definitely recommend!"

Good value

Date:March 3, 2012
"I just purchased this saw on sale for $279.99
It seems like a good product except for a problem mentioned by some other users.
The bevel lock lever is not very well designed.
I had to adjust mine right out of the box! It would not lock in place until I adjusted the locking arm under the saw. The manual does not address this at all. There was a one page insert in the Manual, but even that is hard to understand, and does not include a diagram.
Otherwise, seems like a decent machine.

Excellent value

Date:January 9, 2012
"Got this saw when it was on sale. Have been using it for over a year now (home renovation and misc. workshop projects). Saw was true out of the box, and with the miter and bevel detents I haven't had to adjust anything yet. The laser was perfectly aligned too. The drive belt and slide bearings have held up well. As with any sliding saw, you have to be careful not to apply any sideways force when making a sliding cut because it is possible to force it off a straight line if you're ham-fisted with it. Go slow and gentle and it cuts bang on.
My only (minor) gripe is that the built-in clamp to hold your workpiece is a bit flimsy and hard to lock into place on the saw base, using the small thumbscrew. But once you tighten the clamp onto your workpiece the friction holds everything in place.
This is a high quality tool, and a ridiculous value when on sale -- way to go MC!"

"I love this saw but at this price 300 bucks its fantastic! Its evrything the big names are, Dewalt, Makita, you name it, I've used them and Matercraft Maxxum holds up to the very best of them. The dual bevel is nice, love the led light and the lazer light. You cant go wrong!"

"I can't tell you if MC is really good since I am still getting to know the brand but this machine was amazing from the time that I first used until now. I got on sale for $279 and because of that I was concern but I definitely would recommend to any home user or contractor out there. It is just amazing!"

Love it!!!

Date:June 22, 2011
"This mitre saw is working great. I have use it on installing crown molding with another blade. I have not tried this blade. Love the 2 side bevel. It slides really easy. Love the extra LED light that this mitre saw has so you can see your line better. I'm not a big fan of laser light. I like the eye better to make a cut. So I can't comment on the laser light how accurate it is. The only miner issue I had was to un-lock the bevel when it came out of the box. I'll try to explain it. The gray clip in front of the table arm is the clip to un-lock the bevel. The way it works is there is a bolt in the back of the saw that this clip that is attach too. If your clip is up you pull towards you and push it down what it did it move this clip around the bolt. Then if you pull it up it will loosen the bolt. If you do it again pull the clip towards you and push it down it move the clip around the bolt again. Then pull up it has loosen the bolt again. It will eventually loosen it up enough so you can set it up to lock and un-lock the bevel by just push on the clip up or down. They could of add that in the book. Other than that I really love they way it works."

Quality unit.

Date:June 17, 2011
"Just bought this saw and am super impressed. Have used numerous others in the past and for the money, this one is the best around. Dual lazer is great! Took a bit to figure out how the bevel lock works. Mine was a little out of adjustment but soon figured it out after turning the unit upside down and giving the adjustment nut a couple of turns. The manual is pretty deficient in this area. Angles were perfect right out of the box. Even has a pretty decent blade."
