Provides more protection than goggles

Date:July 8, 2011
"I have to agree with the other reviewers: this is hardly a "premium" face shield, buy it is pretty good for a DIYer who occasionally chain saw wood, shapes, bricks., etc. The straps are hard to adjust and always need to be readjusted and the shield won't stay flipped up when you want it to...but it is strong enough to protect your face from flying wood, stone chips, etc.
We used an angle grinder to shape some pavers for a garden path. I was careful, but the masonry cutting wheel simply disintegrated and in less than a sec I had sharp bits of the abrasive wheel and stone chips flying at my face, neck, etc. I had several burns, deep cuts and bruises to my arms, chest, etc., and still have some scars. IF I had been wearing goggles, I'd have taken some damage to my face as well. Fortunately, I was wearing this face shield and it deflected the debris and kept my new "beauty marks" to areas covered with clothes.
I'd like to pass along two bits of advice if you do occasional work with an angle grinder. First, wear a face shield not just goggles. Second, when cutting stone, use a diamond blade. They're really expensive compared to an abrasive wheel, but far safer to use. We finished off the garden path without incident after we bought that type of blade."

take care of this product, otherwise, it'll break

Date:December 1, 2010
"This is good for flying debris such as trimming bushes and weed wacking and even woodworking, but do take care of this product, as I was careless with it and it developed a small crack. That small crack turned into a bigger crack and then eventually, the shield became useless. Had I taken proper care of it, it would still be functioning. I no longer use a face shield, which is not highly recommmended if you are already reading reviews and contemplating getting one.
If you want a basic no frills shield, this one will do. Flip up lid too. Stays up when you want it too, and folds back down when you want it too."

Excellent product

"It is lightweight and provides an excellent protection against impact and liquid splashes. Personally, I think it's a useful product when grinding, woodworking, spray painting and other jobs where safety eyewear just isn't enough."

Best protection

"This full face shield is a good idea when trimming overhead branches, or grinding surfaces that kick up a lot of dust or sparks. Eyeglasses are good for eye protection, but sometimes you need more."

A must have

Date:October 21, 2007
"I use this face shield for everything from using the gas weed trimmer, to using the angle grinder, to using chemical cleaners. It's a nice shield without impairing your vision.
I would like the headband to be easier to adjust."

Not bad but could be a bit better

Date:October 12, 2007
"Just bought one of these face shields. Overall it seems well built but the head band should be adjustable like a welding helmet (turn as knob and the strap tightens or loosens). Instead it has adjustment similar to a baseball cap. My gripe is the holes the pin snaps into are very small. I had to use a pair of pliers to get the pin to snap in."
