Excellent small slow cooker

"Excellent slow cooker with all possible bells and whistles except thermo probe.
Rubber-like perimeter of the lid makes close contact with ceramic insert and makes no sound (basic slow cooker's metallic lid rattles as steam escapes), if memory serves, there are small venting holes, absent in simpler models. Scratch safe plastic spoon, clamps for traveling, even support for open lid/power cord holder.
Cooks well (just as my bleak basic Black and Decker slow cooker). Looks surely nice.
The only drawback is that is should be filled from 1/2 to 3/4 of capacity, what makes it a single meal device for a family.
I had to go and buy another, larger (but basic) 8.5 qt slow cooker, that has cooking capacity of 6.5 qts. If only I knew this before buying, I wouldn't have to buy two appliances instead of one, when the space for storage is very limited."

"I received this item as a gift and i couldnt be happier. I have had other slow cooker before but this one is my favorite. It deep base makes it easy for stews and chili for a lot of servings so you can entertain or freeze. I bought two more for gifts as i was so pleased with mine."

Excellent slow cooker!

"I purchased this a few weeks ago when it was on sale as I needed a larger slow cooker. I've used it since to make bone broth (both chicken and beef), lamb chops and apple butter.
I really like the lid as it creates a tight seal and cooking odors are significantly reduced plus there's no splatter. I usually cook bones for up to 24 hours to make a good broth but never liked the cooking smells overnight when sleeping. We couldn't even tell that the cooker was on, the smell was so much reduced. Same thing for the lamb during the day.
I've only used the low setting so can't say how quickly high cooks but low cooked 6 lamb chops in 5 hours and they were perfect. Next to try, butter chicken then pulled pork.
If you don't have a slow cooker, it's an easy way to create amazing meals - watch for this one to go on sale again as it's a keeper. (I use this site's products alerts to let me know when items I want to purchase are going on sale.)"

Sometimes less is more!

"This is a great slow cooker for a family of 5 or 6. The stoneware is easy to clean, the lid sits properly on the stoneware thanks to a soft rubber seal and the locks and included spoon are great for potlucks. There is also a spoon holder tucked away under the base.
The outside of the cooker does get very warm though, the manufacturer could have included a bit more insulation.
The best part of this slow cooker though is that it's not digital! Many digital slow cookers won't remember their settings during a brief power interruption, causing you to possibly ruin your meal.
As with any slow cooker, ensure it is 3/4 full to ovoid over-cooking or cooking your meal too quick."

Not a slow cooker

"This slow cooker cooks too fast. On low setting stews, soups, chile all cook in about 4-5 hours, which means I can't set it before I leave for work. I dont' even know how quick it would cook on high but I'm guessing 2-3 hours. On the upside it has a large capacity and is perfect for taking to pot lucks. If you are making something that requires you to thicken the sauce in a final step at the end, you can turn this up to high and your sauce will boil in under 15 minutes. Clean up is quick and easy in the dishwasher, although the crock does take up a lot of space"

"This was the third model that I tried before getting an acceptable digital appliance. If you don't have these stick to a selector knob.
Its easy to program
It switches to warm and stays on warm until I get to it. My first try (b&d) only stayed warm 2 hours and turned off.
It handles a brief power interruption that will ruin you food otherwise as the other competitors model that I tried just turned off.
Good job Hamilton Beach : ) I finally found a smart appliance."

"I left my slow cooker in New Brunswick when I moved to Manitoba and really missed the practicality of it. This recent purchase is a great value and is an exceptionally well-made and well-designed product. I am so impressed that I am going back to buy another one while they are still on sale at 50% off. Great to take to parties and pot lucks - so convenient and so much better than my last slow cooker. I am glad that I left the old model behind as I have upgraded to this superb product. Great warranty as well - they made it right the first time and I am certain that they know that it will last and have few issues."

Excellent Quality and Value in a Slow Cooker

"Right out of the box, I noticed that this is a high-quality well-made appliance. Great looking stainless steel outer casing and a heavy / serious ceramic crock pot - *not* one of those teflon coated lightweight metal cheapo crock pots! I did not want a digital buttoned slow cooker because I am fed up with needing a manual to operate digital appliances... this one is very simple and easy to use with just four settings on a single dial (OFF - KEEP WARM - LOW - HIGH). The lid has a great rubber gasket seal that helps keep in the heat, eliminates seal sputtering and makes no clanking when you put the lid on the ceramic pot. Very slick. Nice extras are the clamps that allow the lid to be locked in place when transporting a full pot of food, chromed lid holder that also acts as a cord wrap-around, included spoon with spoon holder built into the lid handle and good non-slip rubber feet. Within 5 hours after taking out of the box I made a full pot (6 qts) of one of the best beef-vegetable stews I've ever made, using a combination of 3 hours on HIGH and 2 hours on LOW. It heats up pretty fast on HIGH. I look forward to doing most of my cooking with this appliance from many soups and stews to roasts and entire chickens. I even got it on sale (50% off!) and is one of the best $30.00 I've ever spent. A timer would be nice, but those can be purchased cheap. I highly recommend this slow-cooker / crock pot."

"I purchased this slow cooker as a gift for my daughter. I was so impressed with it that my husband bought one for me for Christmas. As soon as they go back on sale I will be buying one for my other daughters. The probe is a great feature...no guess work when meat is done."
