"Got a tight spot but want a stylish garbage can? This is a bit pricey but otherwise fills the bill"

= cannot return; wish we had read the reviews ==

Date:December 3, 2012
"I wish I had read the reviews: the dampening mechanism broke on both our cans. One after a year, one after only two months.
CT in West Bank would not accept a return because there "had been garbage in it". Seriously.
This product is not worth the money."

Not worth it (even at 1/2 price)

Date:November 29, 2012
"Same issue, dampener for the lid failed due to a $0.05 parts failure after 6 months. This garbage can is garbage. Looks good, that is why I gave it 2 stars."

So disappointed :(

Date:November 7, 2012
"I loved this product - it's worked great for over a year, but just broke. The same plastic clip that others have complained about. Given the price tag, it's disappointing that one such crucial part was made so poorly!"

Doesn't stand up

Date:October 7, 2012
"I've bought two of these cans. Both broke after about 8 months of use. The clip on the lid broke on both cans in the same place when I opened it wide to take out the liner bin to empty it. It looks nice and fit into my limited space but very expensive trash can if it won't even last a year."

Beautiful, with a flimsy plastic mechanism

Date:September 10, 2012
"I bought one of these this past April 14th because it looked good and was slim enough to fit in the space we had.
I had to exchange it ten days later because the damping mechanism failed and there was oil leaking down the inside back of it.
Now, September 9th the exchanged unit has partially failed too. Not the damping mechanism but a plastic piece that keeps the rod centred during operation. Looking closely I see that another piece is cracked between two screw points and when it fails the thing won't work at all.
At this price point I was expecting something that would last for many years, not fail twice in less than five months.
I cannot recommend this product."

Cuisinart Step Can

Date:September 2, 2012
"I absolutely love this can! Love the lock since our dog tries to get the garbage and he can't with the lock on. Looks nice too. My only concern is the price tag. Expensive! I got mine for 1/2 price so figured it was a bargain....but $149?? You gotta be kidding? So I'd only tell my friends about it when on sale for 1/2 price. Wish it came in bronze/brown since steel doesn't really go in my kitchen."

Great Garbage Can !

Date:August 27, 2012
"I had this garbage can for years.
The step-on idea is great. It frees my hands while I'm busy in the kitchen and does not dirty them touching the can. It looks good. Shiny and easy to keep clean. Because its stainless steel, does not rust. It's a good size - holds a lot of garbage. The removable inner can could easily be washed down by hand, or can even be hosed down outside.
I recommend it.

part failure

Date:August 21, 2012
"At first I really liked this trash can with the nice features, good size and great look. But now that the plastic part that connects the lid to the pedal broke, this trash can is useless. At that price and especially since the small broken piece is easily detachable by removing two screws, I don't find it is worth what you pay for. I've attached pictures of the broken part.
I also noticed that I am not the only person who reported this problem and the answer provided by CT, see section Q&A "purchasing replacement parts" is that there are no replacement parts for this can. Very unfortunate. I guess that Cuisinar rather profit off the sale of another can instead of a 2$ plastic replacement part.
Not worth the risk."

Expensive but worth it

Date:August 13, 2011
"Having just got one of these I'm really pleased with it. The construction is very high quality and it has a nice solid feel to it; it won't slide around the kitchen floor because it has enough weight to keep it in place, and the wheels and handle make it easy to move when you want it to.
There are lots of features that together made me decide to get this, and to decide that even though it's expensive it's worth it. I really like the styling and if matches my kitchen appliances really well. I like the soft-close lid, and the pedal has a nice solid feel to it. I like that it has lots of capacity but its slim design makes it fit in to my smallish kitchen just great.
I really like the stay open lid, and I love that it has a storage compartment for spare garbage bags built into the lid; that's so convenient. Additionally I like that full bags can be taken out with ease, and there's even a feature to enable the installed bag to be fitted nice and tight so you don't get the bag showing outside of the can when its closed.
Basically, it's just an extremely nicely thought out and executed design.
Now I did think the price was high, but when I looked around at competitor's stores there are lots of other bins out there at similar or higher prices, but none that had so many really nice design features.
So in conclusion, it's not really expensive when compared to the competition, it's beautifully made, looks good, and is nice to use."

Awesome Garbage!

Date:March 10, 2011
"We just got this garbage since it was on sale. I otherwise would not have paid full price for just a kitchen garbage in this price range. After having one of the round tall stainless steel cans and hating it, we were looking for something sleek and large but that woldn't have that annoying vacuum effect when you're removing the full garbage bag from it. I can't tell you how many times we cursed that stupid tall can after ripping garbage bags (even good Glad ones) trying to struggle against that stupid garbage and its sucking effect! Finally after looking for a long time we found a garbage worth its price! The step-on lid opens wide with the petal or you can actually use your hand to manually lift it and lock it open. It also has a doggie-lock on the lid, which is perfect for pets who like to use the kitchen garbage like a buffet as our dog does. We just lock the lid and don't have to worry about him getting into any chicken bones or other possible hazards. Also the lid has a mechanism that prevents it from slamming down even when you let the pedal go quickly. It's a great garbage, worth the price!"
