Best value for transmitters

Date:September 5, 2012
"I bought this when I originally had my 2nd generation iPod Nano, about 4 years ago and it worked perfectly. I now have an iPhone 4 and it still works just as good.
When it comes to size, it is a bit bulky, as I've used it once in a family member's Chevy Malibu, and it just barely fit, especially with the gearshift there. However, I've also used it in my Chevy Venture van, and it's perfect.
I find the sound quality to be perfect. I never had any issues with signal loss or degradation. I never had to worry about changing the frequency on the device.
This item has been on sale many times, and even with it's original price, it's still the best value. Most transmitters I've seen range $45+."

pretty good solution

Date:August 24, 2012
"I bought this on sale for 9.99 and for that price you can't beat it. My only complaint is that you can't easily switch from one frequency to another while driving -- sometimes necessary when you're on a road trip and encounter a competing radio station."

Works Good

Date:August 24, 2012
"bought this on sale to try and must say the sound quality is alright i would say about 7.5/10. it doesn't give off a good base sound, more on treble. it charges the ipod while plugged in.
the downside
the frequency switch can come loose while switching stations
its hard to put it in and take it out of the 12v cigarette lighter.
during the winter while using it the cord connection can be brittle and can break and expose the copper wires when trying to remove it from charging."

Great Product, especially if you have a GM vehicle

Date:January 20, 2012
"I use this FM transmitter all the time on my HUMMER H2 and it's a fantastic product. I also used it on my Dodge Ram and the reception is fantastic but as some other people have said, fitting it in the cigarette lighter is a tad more difficult but not bad enough to change your mind on this product. It offers the best sound out there and it's a great price, this definitly shows Canadian Tire's hard work trying to sell quality products at great prices. I would just wait until it goes on sale, because I bought mine for just $7.99! But even at $34.99 it's a fantastic deal. It also works with both my iPhone and iPod! All my friends love it too!"

Not so good

Date:December 24, 2011
"Frquency change switch fell off, only a few frequency's to choose from, all had a radio station so I get noise quite often. The plug failed and I only get one speaker side now. My cousin left it on the floor and the salt attacked the cheap metal overnight and it was toast."

the best one out there

Date:November 9, 2011
"the Digipower iPod Navigator has got to be the best FM transmitter available out there! It's fairly clear (I believe I had mine set on 88.5 in Vancouver), and it rarely cuts out. I use it in my Acura TSX, and I'm glad that it fits (barely) and is easily accessible.
I have taken this FM transmitter on many road trips, and it has never failed me. My most memorable was using it from Vancouver to Calgary. The whole drive there in the nasty winter weather, it kept up the whole way through!
I have friends who have spent close to $100 on their transmitters, and they're nowhere close to this one.
It's definitely a must, but it's best to wait for a better deal on it."

Definitely worth a look

Date:September 29, 2011
"I bought this for my iPhone 4 and I must say it is excellent. My Monster fm transmitter was stolen and I decided to replace that $80 unit with this $10 one. Funny thing is, the sound quality is 10x better than the Monster. I have yet to encount static issues and I've now had it about 3 months and travelled alot with it.
I will agree with others that the actual holder is quite cumbersome. I do not use the holder, I only plug the iphone into the unit and then put my phone in the cup holder where I can see the screen. The holder is just too big and faces the wrong way. All in all, a great buy.

Good sound but it tore my cigarette lighter out!

Date:July 22, 2011
"I bought this item a year ago and use it all the time. The sound is great and my ipod fits in it very snug.
I do have two major complaints though. The fit in the cigarette lighter is VERY tight and is hard to get out/put in. The first time I took it out, it ripped my cigarette lighter out, and now it dangles freely out of the dash. Another con is that it can't be moved, unlike a wired system. I find it hard to see the screen sometimes and you can't pull it closer to you. If your cupholders are located above the cigarette lighter, like in my corolla, it makes them unusable.
It works well for me, but I would recommend looking at other options (especially if you don't like having a dangling cigarette lighter)."

Works with Iphone 4

Date:May 13, 2011
"The cradle is adjustable and will extend very wide.. my iPhone is in an otter box = HUGE! and it fits fine. 4 prong (spring clip) on the 12 volt plug in allows you to put it in your lighter on any angle and it will hold it at that angle.. so if you mount it Landscape mode.. it will hold it like that..
1 falt! when mounted normally it is 90° to your lighter.. this is hard for the driver to see.. you can't angle the face towards you.. when in landscape mode I can see the face but often need to move it portrait mode to adjust the settings.. welcome to iPhone! due to the hook up being a cable. at least you can pull it out of the cradle, turn it and not loose connection. or you can pull it out and shake it to change songs and put it back in again.
Reception is good.. In Ottawa it can interfere with 88.5 but not a real problem as it has a freq. setting and you can move away from that freq."

Love it!

Date:December 1, 2010
"“I bought this product at sale price of $9.99 and loving it! It is very simple to set up; all you have to do is plug it into the lighter, set it to an FM radio station and listen to your music. The only difficult part about setting it up is the tight fit into the lighter outlet. Other than that it has great sound, and charges your IPod battery. There are a few more cons involving this product. I have heard from others that it won’t charge your IPod if it is not a classic. Make sure you read the label before buying this product! It is only made for certain makes of the iPod( iPod 3G, 4G, 20G, iPod Photo, iPod Mini, iPod Nano, with exceptions of other makes). Also depending on your FM spectrum in your area there may be interferences. Other than that it holds & charges the iPod perfectly, with a few exceptions of the IPod type. The sound is perfect and I haven’t had any interference’s what so ever."

Ipod car dock

Date:November 29, 2010
"The digipower ipod navigator is a dock for your car so that you can play music on your ipod through your car speakers. This dock is very poor quality compared to other products out now. It is ridgid and only pivits up and down. It has very little tuning options and is easily breakable. If not placed in the right position in cigarette lighter hole, it does not play or it will play but comes out fussy. This dock is good only for the older generations of ipods and will not work for the newer generations like the ipod touch, iphone, and the newer generations of nano. The digipower dock doesn't hold snuggly and sometimes leaves the ipod dangling when it slips out of the holding clips. Going over bumps often becomes the cause of the ipod slipping because the dock shakes and drops the ipod due to the fact that it isn't a snug fit."

A Little Awkward, But Works Well

Date:November 26, 2010
"I bought this at $9.99 and have recommended it many times. It is a little difficult to insert or remove from the lighter socket, and in my car (96 Camry) it is close to interfering with my knee when I drive. But it works well, and is easy to switch frequencies if interference occurs (which is rare in my experience). You need to give the holding pads a squeeze now and then or the Ipod may slip out, but if it does, the connector holds it securely enough that it does not fall to the floor.
A good bargain when it's on sale!"

Does the job

Date:November 1, 2010
"I picked this up on sale for $9.99 and love it. Compared to other units that only charge or transmit, yet cost several times more, this unit is great. As others have pointed out, it's a bit stiff to get into the lighter, but it never falls out.
Depending on the FM spectrum in your area, you may encounter interference now and then, but if you really want to avoid that, use this device along with a line-in jack if your car has that. You can charge your iPod and listen to it on your Auxillary channel.
The unit does become loose after awhile, but it can be tightened back up.
Not a bad solution, but $34.99 is a little steep. They go on sale all the time. Keep an eye out."

very bad product or I was unlucky

Date:October 25, 2010
"Saw all the good reviews and decided to buy one.
First thing to notice -- it does not go into the lighter easily. I had to push it really really hard to plug it. The same when I tried to pull it out. The lighter in my new car works fine with all other in-car devices.
Secondly -- it did not work at all. It did not charge my ipod mini, and of course it did not transmit anything to the radio.
In addition -- the design is very stiff. The lighter is beside the gear, and the position is very awkward."

Need a Passenger

Date:September 28, 2010
"Although I really liked this product, where my 12V plug- in is in the van, is right under my drink holder which is always out. It is not safe at all to change the music on my ipod. I would like to find a charger/player with a longer cord so I could put the ipod on the dash. Otherwise the sound is great and it is easy to use. I also like that it keeps the ipod charged."

Not bad but....

Date:September 11, 2010
"Pros:
Works well for my wife's Ipod classic.
Very clear sound and simple to set up.
Charges ipod battery.
Cons:
Does not work with my Ipod Nano 5th gen.
Very stiff and awkward to plug into lighter.
A good bump and the Ipod will fall off holder.
Result: I Would buy again on sale but not full price."

Hit or Miss

Date:July 13, 2010
"I used this product for 1 yr with no trouble. Now in the COBOURG, PORT HOPE, OSHAWA area all frequencies offered (88.1, to 88.7) are taken by lame radio stations.
MAKE SURE TO CHECK THESE FREQUENCIES ON YOUR RADIO BEFORE BUYING
88.1 -- 88.3 -- 88.5 -- 88.7
They are the only ones you can select with this device.
This is a great device if those stations are free, otherwise this is an overpriced iPod car charger.
