changed design

Date:February 10, 2013
"Once upon a time I sold and installed these portable garages...I bought one last summer , installed it and the first northeaster tore it to threads...since I sold this product they have changed the design allowing more wind damage....my suggesting is to buy the canadian
design...little more expensive but better quality...

Great Garage - assembly a breeze

Date:January 14, 2013
"I bought this shelter on sale in the fall. I am a single mom in a town with no other family, so my 14 year old son and myself assembled this garage ourselves. We are fairly handy people, but assembly of this garage does not require a genius. The bolt holes all lined up just fine and the instructions were easy enough to follow. A couple of the drilled holes were not punched through, however, so I had to use my cordless drill with bit to open up the two or three blocked drill holes. My son and I, with a couple of ladders, had this garage completely assembled in about 6 hours at most. I took the advice of another reviewer and secured it to 6x6 treated posts, 10 foot lengths. I also purchased the anchor kit and use the "temporary" anchors as well. We had quite a winter storm the other night and the shelter has not budged a bit. My only complaint is the zipper system is not the greatest - they get stuck with ice and snow and become very hard to zip/unzip. This is not a large garage so if you have a full size pickup, this is not the one for you. I would recommend this garage to my friends. And I'll help them put it up, too!"

Dont buy it its garbage. Worst purchase ever.

Date:December 1, 2012
"Just bought it as it was on sale, finished putting up the frame in about 2hrs by my self in the cold. Girlfriend noticed that top was ripped and we have not even taken out of the box. On the phone now for 20min on hold trying to see if I can just return the top. If not its going back and they will have to take it appart, it wont be pretty. If I can give it less than poor i would."

Not the Best

Date:October 12, 2012
"Not the easiest shelter to put up - - - bought one from Costco (King Canopy) previously. . . sorry I didn't just buy the same one . . .
Hate that I had to pay around the same $$ for the Shelter Logic and now have NO door kit ? ?........and they want an extra $50 for it ??............That really sucks . . .
Should be interesting to see how this holds up over the winter . .
Feel like taking it down (if it wasn't so much work) and buying the King Canopy one

Must be anchored well!

Date:May 12, 2012
"I Lagged my shelter down to 6x6 beams from rona. anchors were then driven outside the tent at intervals along the beams and lagged through the eyes into the outside of the beams. Best plan here folks. Has not moved a centimeter in three windy years. Last one flew away. Be warned. Doors zip is a bit tight I find so 4 stars. Fabric is great."

Nightmare assembly

Date:February 17, 2012
"I just picked this one up yesterday to do some emergency auto repairs in February 2012. I bought a 10x20 a few years ago and it was not as bad as this to set up. I set that one up myself in an afternoon. But the wind blew it hundreds of feet away and destroyed it even with 16 pieces of rebar holding it down into the ground.
The biggest problem I had with yesterdays assembly was that most of the bolt holes did not line up on much of anything. I followed the directions of course and triple checked to make sure everything was in the right place. The directions are very clear on how to build the thing. I estimate it would take about 2 hours to fully assemble this if the bolt holes lined up but they did NOT! I spent from 2-20 minutes at each bolt hole! Very frustrating is the nicest thing I can say here. There were the odd few that just slid right in. I spent 5 hours with two other people, just on the frame alone last night. Some of the holes were drilled way off from where they should have been. I pictured a summer student not paying attention just eyeballing where to drill the holes at the machine shop. I uploaded a picture of how I drilled some of the pieces in the correct location. Three pieces went in the house to the drill press. You could see where the axis of the original drilled holes were off by about 20 degrees.
So after wrestling with the frame for 5 hours I still have to put the cover on but that couldn't be too hard... could it?
Anyway I'm not all complaints here, these garages are cheap and great once you get them set up. But you have to hold them down. The one major flaw of these garages are that they can easily take off in the wind. Even though I held my last one down with 16 pieces of 2' long rebar, two at each leg, the wind was strong enough to pull all of them out and it flew away. It was set up again, this time with the recommended augers purchased extra from Canadian Tire, and it did the exact same thing but totally wrecked itself the second time.
With this new shelter I am building a floor out of 18 40"x48" pallets held together with a frame of 2x6" planks, with the shelter held on the floor by lag bolts. I seriously doubt the wind can carry about 900 lbs of pallets, and the car on top of them.
I have heard others had success holding them down with sand bags, salt bags, etc. Just make sure that before you even start building it that you have a way to hold it down, because that will make or break this whole project. Good Luck."

Not bad

Date:November 24, 2011
"We have only had this for a few weeks, but so far its not a bad shelter.
Assembled by my husband by himself in two days. I think it would have taken less time, but we had some weather that he couldn't work in.
Everything fit perfect, however, we would suggest the company provide a more heavey duty rachetts for securing the fabric.
We aren't happy though being provided with 15 in anchors, then told in the instructions that these were only for temporary use. We ended up having to buy 30 in anchors ($50.00), which should have been included in the first place.
Time will tell on longevity of the product. We put it up where it is mostly sheltered from the wind."
