Don't waste your money

Date:June 11, 2012
" The only good thing about this GPS was the viewing size when it works. I have had 2. The second one was a replacement for the first, and did exactly the same thing which was shutting down on it's own, even while having the charger plugged in. Moved on to a Garmin and very happy "

LEMON

Date:March 27, 2012
" I bought this unit more than a year ago.
During warranty, Canadian Tire replaced it twice. The third unit kept going a bit longer than warranty expiration. Each unit failed same way: each time it tries to start-up, fails and restarts again over and over until either I give up or built-in battery stores enough power to keep it on.
During described start-up, the unit does not respond to power switch on/off commands. I unplugged power cord and reconnect - it restarts on its own without my input. During these restarts, when the screen starts to flicker and horizontal/vertical lines show up, its days are numbered.
This model is definitely a lemon and Canadian Tire should not sell it to consumers!
Too bad, because when it worked I really liked it: big screen, enough options ..... "

Not Happy

Date:March 17, 2012
" We've had this for over a year now. From day one we had a problem with the connection from the cigarette lighter to the GPS. After several phone calls to Magellan, they finally sent us a new power cord. Then it worked for about 4 months quite well, but now has quit completely. We have no problem with any other devices plugged into the same cigarette lighter outlets. We know enough now not to buy a Magellan. Canadian Tire sold us a lovely Garmin and we're very pleased with it! "

Worth the money

Date:September 5, 2011
" Here's a quick 1 day review. Device is huge but not just for RV's or trucks. Placement was directly in the middle of a Mazda dash, didn't obstruct anything. At first it looked large but after a few hours, you became use to it. Quite surprised by the actual included mount, I had the screen within mm's of the glass and not one smack on the glass, and the vehicle has quite a suspension drop and stiff but the bracket holds the device pretty stable, impressed.
At regular city speeds tracking accuracy was spot on, over 80km accuracy fell off a bit and you actually were further on map than real life but still completely acceptable.
Don't ask me what the land mapping colors represent, and the map is actually quite dull, navigation route is very visible and directions work quite well, I actually traveled to a place I knew to simulate an unknown location and the routing choices were pretty good. I did find some POI's not in the database, which was odd and roads that were not new not available, my only complaint.
Overall for $169 on sale, its hard to beat.
Pros: Large 7" screen, stable mount included, navigation accuracy and ease of use.
Cons: Does not charge through USB cable, database lacking POI's and streets, battery life.
I'll update the review after a few months of use. "
