"I have had this antenna installed on my car for a couple of years now and it has functioned just fine. There is an output on my radio to signal it up when the radia and car are on and it retracts if either is turned off. It is important to ensure you have sufficient rooom to mount the unit below the section of body where you wish to install it. There are different escution plates to allow for different angles of the mount area. Also check to ensure that there is one suitable for your purpose before you proceed and make the unit non-returnable."
