A Good Alternative For City Driving

Date:May 18, 2012
"When I first bought these I had regular OEM headlight bulbs, I was noticing they were dimming so it was time to improve this.
When I bought them, the Sylvania ECO package indicated that I could save a little fuel since they only use 45W instead of the usual 55W. What I noticed was that they were brighter than OEM's and in paticular there was an improvement in width with about the same distance as before and also some improved clarity, ideal for mostly city driving not so much highway driving. Definantly better than OEM bulbs, also I did see a small improvement in mpg and after 15 mos. of use they were still working. I said "were" because I change my bulbs annually, like it is recommended to do.
When I went to re-purchase a set, I noticed they went up in price from $29.99 to $49.99, which was a deal breaker for me. At this price I opt'd for a more premium bulb for about $10.00 more. If it wasn't for the price change I would have bought them again.

not so good for the environment!

Date:April 9, 2012
"I purchased these based on their pro-green claims and their so-called promise of longevity. They did not last even six months before burning out! They are WAY over priced for their claims. They are not much brighter than in-house brand bulbs.
Very unsatisfied with the performance. For the brightness and reliability, just buy in-house for a LOT cheaper."

Not so good

"These headlights are noticeably dimmer than pretty much anything else available at CDN Tire. So dim as to be borderline dangerous at night. Would never, ever buy these again. Seems like an attempt to cash in on the green trend."

Eco lights are great

Date:June 22, 2011
"I need some headlights. An auto parts professional explained my choices since there was so many when I heard they are mercury free and bright plus i get a 1 year free replacement only if i hold on to the bill. I bought them they work great providing your headlight lens is clear of course.10 months later still working as if i purchased them yesterday."

Unexpectedly great.

Date:December 22, 2010
"Used in my Saturn Vue Hybrid 2007.
I needed to purchase a replacement bulb for one of my dead headlamps, which were PIAA Extreme White (very bright and white bulbs--awesome).
Although I picked up a dual pack of Silverstar Ultra (not knowing the brightness or colour compared to the Extreme White bulbs, I decided to change both headlamps), the price of the EcoBright bulbs seems worth the experiment. I purchased both the Silverstar Ultra and EcoBright.
Surprise, surprise--the EcoBrights are very bright and white (not as much as the Silverstar or Extreme White, but close). I'm keeping them aside and will swap them in for a longer test when one of the Silverstar bulbs dies.
If the extended lifetime is true, it is equally attractive as the price. Not being as harmful to the environment as other types is a definite bonus.
Although not used for a long time (just for a couple of days) to see how well they age, I'm quite pleasantly surprised. These are definitely something to consider when replacing headlamps."
