Customer Reviews for Michelin X-Ice Xi2

Michelin X-Ice Xi2

Advanced Tread Block with Micropumps ensures optimal contact with the road. A combination of multiple sipes and micro pumps with a rubber silica based Flex-Ice technology ensure maximum grip. Supporting knobs help provide stability on wet and dry roads in the winter. Extended and even wear throughout the life of the tire is obtained by Michelin's stress equilibrium casing, which evenly distributes the contact forces across the footprint

Great winter tires

Date:February 27, 2011
"On a Dodge Grand Caravan. We just had two major snow storms and set a record for the most snow in February ever. 30cm and more in the drifts. No problem pushing through unplowed roads, or that lovely snow wall left by the plow at the end of my driveway. Tried a couple of hard stops on ice and in snow, was surprised by how well they grip under hard braking. Excellent control no matter what the roads were like. Worth every penny!"

Awesome winter tires

Date:December 4, 2010
"Although I cannot comment about these tires for an all wheel drive vehicle, on our front wheel drive turbo cars they are awesome. Having used several different winter tires over the years, including Michelin Alpin winters for one year prior to these, the Xi2's have been the total package for us. We are into winter three with them now, and so far they have performed as they did new.
Two years ago when the Island was hit with a brutal amount of snow, I was able to drive around many 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles in both deep snow and on polished glare ice. We live on the side of a mountain that rarely see's a snowplow, and that was the first year I could drive out of and back into my neighbourhood with no issues, pushing, or shoveling.
Likewise, trips through the Rockies in the middle of some very nasty storms that winter sealed the deal for me, and I recommend only these tires to anyone that will listen.
The only negative I can put to words is that the extensive sipping on the tread face does make a good amount of road noise. They actually make a singing sound, especially under load when accelerating, and are a little louder when running in rain or slush. That said, get them, and totally experience driving on probably the best winter tire available."

Disappointed. Good on Ice, Poor in snow.

Date:November 21, 2010
"The xi2's are very highly rated tires, and I had high expectations for them, but I found them to be quite poor on my Subaru, particularly in wet snow and slush. The did seem to perform well on ice, but had traction issues accelerating and braking whenever the surface was deep and loose. I've used a variety of different snow tires (blizzaks, nexen's, hankook), and I was surprised that the snow performance of the Michelin's was worse than any other tire we have had on this car. After this experience I tend towards a tire with a more open tread pattern to better deal with snow and the conditions that we encounter in the vancouver to whistler area."

Winter tires are a must in Calgary

Date:December 29, 2009
"I got these winter tires for my Yaris. The difference was night and day. I never got stuck and the stopping power vs all-seasons was not even comparable. While I've never had other winter tires, I'm very pleased with these. I've got them on my Honda Fit now too.
It was tough to rate the durability, as I've only just started using them, but I'm guessing they'll last a few seasons."
